✊“Hunger’s Cry" ✊
✊“Hunger’s Cry" ✊
(A Call for Justice – 9th July Nationwide Strike)
Bruhaspati Samal
General Secretary
Confederation of Central Govt Employees and Workers
Odisha State CoC, Bhubaneswar
A mother skips meals to feed her son,
A pensioner counts coins one by one.
Children ask why milk's out of reach,
While fathers stay silent, with tears they teach.
Medicines now mean loans or pain,
Schoolbooks weigh more than harvest grain.
Life isn’t lived — it’s just endured,
Dreams of the commoner get censored.
The poor are shielded by party schemes,
The rich fly past in capital dreams.
But the middle class, stand and burn —
With every price hike, with every tax turn.
Gas, groceries, bills — all rise like fire,
With GST and cess that never expire.
Wherever we turn, there’s burden and fee,
In the name of development, lost what’s free.
But silence no more — the hour has struck,
We rise with rage and worker’s luck.
The 9th of July shall be the day,
We show the rulers — we won’t obey.
This strike is not just a show of might,
It’s hunger’s cry, it’s justice’s right.
It’s unity forged in hardship's flame,
To reclaim life, not just in name.
The nation must pause for one sacred day,
To tell the rulers, “We won’t pay this way!”
No more promises wrapped in disguise,
We march for dignity, for truth to rise!
So workers and students, homemakers too,
This battle is ours — it's calling you.
From slums to suburbs, let voices ring,
Against this burden, let freedom sing!
Stand, strike, and speak — the time is now,
Let sweat be our ink and resolve our vow.
When we walk together, no throne can defy,
The power of people — like flame to the sky!
Beware, O Government! This is the sign,
When peaceful hearts cross the protest line.
Neglect us now, and winds will storm,
Even silent waters can break the norm.
Enough of promises, hollow and late,
If you fail again, you tempt your fate.
This fire of pain, if not understood,
Will turn into struggle in every neighbourhood.
So listen, dear rulers, before it’s too late,
Before strikes turn into a people’s fate.
Reduce the prices, unchain the load,
Or be prepared to walk a rocky road.

Meeting with Postal JCA, Odisha on 9th July nationwide general strike
Dear Comrades,
At a time when silence is becoming the new normal, when fear is replacing resistance, and when the rights of workers are being quietly eroded day by day—the Postal Joint Council of Action, Odisha has rekindled the flame of collective courage.
Today’s (29th June 2025) preparatory meeting held at Bhubaneswar GPO, in association with the Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers, Odisha State CoC, and the All India Postal and RMS Pensioners’ Association, Odisha State Committee, was not just a gathering—it was a reminder of our legacy, our responsibility, and our strength.
We extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt salute to all the leaders, organizers, and participants of this crucial initiative. In an atmosphere thick with uncertainty, you brought clarity. In a time of apathy, you sowed purpose. In a climate of fear, you stood with fearless resolve. This meeting is not just preparation for a strike—it is preparation for hope, justice, and dignity.
Why This Fight is Our Duty:
Let us not forget that every single benefit we enjoy today—whether it's working hours, leave, pay scales, pension, recognition of unions, or job security—has come through blood, sweat, and sacrifice. These were never gifts from benevolent governments, but victories earned through ceaseless struggle led by the Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers and the National Federation of Post and Telecom Employees—today’s NFPE.
But now, we are witnessing a steady and calculated reversal of all that was gained.
- Privatisation and corporatisation are being pushed aggressively, dismantling public institutions.
- Labour laws have been replaced by weakened labour codes, stripping workers of protective legal frameworks.
- Victimisation and silencing of voices have become tools to suppress dissent.
- Job insecurity is rising with rampant contractualisation, outsourcing, and abolition of posts.
- Social security is shrinking—pensions are gone for most, and even the meagre DA lags behind galloping inflation.
- Employees are being isolated, demoralized, and often made to feel powerless.
In such a moment, one would expect united outrage. Instead, what we often find is alarming indifference. Many among us have begun to believe that nothing will change, that struggle is pointless. But history tells us the opposite. Nothing ever changed without struggle.
9th July 2025: A Date with History:
In response to this sustained attack on workers, all Central Trade Unions and independent Federations in India have given a historic call for a Nationwide General Strike on 9th July 2025.
This strike is:
- Against privatisation of public sector units and dismantling of government establishments.
- Against the anti-worker labour codes that deny us basic protections.
- For restoration of Old Pension Scheme and permanent jobs.
- For safeguarding the rights of common citizens to decent employment, healthcare, education, and price stability.
This is not just a strike. It is a battle to defend our dignity, to honour our past, and to safeguard our future. We cannot and must not stay silent.
The Road Ahead: Rise in Unity:
Let us rise with the memory of those who walked before us. Let us rise not just for ourselves, but for those who will come after us. Let us rise because if we bend now, we will break forever.
The success of the 9th July General Strike depends on each one of us. Let us ensure massive participation from every office, every division, every corner of Odisha and beyond. Let this strike shake the conscience of the nation.
Once again, we express our heartfelt thanks and revolutionary greetings to the Postal Joint Council of Action, Odisha for leading this path of resistance with clarity, commitment, and courage.
Unite in Struggle. March for Justice. Strike for Dignity. Victory Will Be Ours.
With struggle greetings.

Meeting with Regional Pensioners' Association, Mahidharpada, Cuttack
Dear Comrades,
It was indeed a moving experience for me today (28th June 2025) to be in the midst of the most dignified and spirited guardians of our society — the super senior citizens of the Regional Pensioners' Association, Mahidharpada, Cuttack. Despite the passage of years and the physical discomforts that naturally accompany advancing age, their unwavering spirit and continued commitment to justice — especially the just cause of pension — filled me with respect and inspiration.
I was deeply honoured to have been invited by the Association, affiliated with the Odisha Retired Employees' Federation, to speak on the theme "Government’s Attitude on Pension and the Role of Pensioners." That I was the only speaker before such a wise and attentive audience of mostly 70 years and above, who listened with patience and determination for nearly one and a half hours, is a moment I will always cherish.
Pension is not a bounty or an ex-gratia payment — it is a hard-earned right, constitutionally backed, morally sound, and socially just. From the dawn of pension in 1871 to the sweeping changes brought by the Finance Act 2025, I endeavoured to cover the history, legal evolution, and policy shifts — from the old defined benefit schemes to the New Pension System (NPS) and now the contentious Universal Pension Scheme (UPS).
I am especially thankful to the President, Secretary, and all esteemed members of the Association for giving me this platform. Their graceful hospitality and keen involvement reaffirmed my belief that even at an advanced age, when the body may falter, the soul of resistance and the will to safeguard one’s rights can still burn brightly.
Let this not be the end, but a spark towards united action. I sincerely appeal to all members to participate actively in the nationwide one-day strike on 9th July 2025 — a collective voice for justice, for the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), and for dignity in the twilight years of life.

The March of the Unsung
The March of the Unsung
(In honour of the Gramin Dak Sevaks of India Post)
Bruhaspati Samal
General Secretary
Confederation of Central Govt Employees and Workers
Odisha State CoC
He climbs the hill with burdened feet,
Where sun and stone and stormcloud meet.
Through thorny paths and forest deep,
He wakes the dawn, denies the sleep.
No storm nor fire, no beast nor flood,
Can dim the duty in his blood.
Not caste, not creed, nor rich nor poor—
He knocks on every humble door.
He brings the word, the joy, the tear,
From far-off lands to loved ones near.
His sack may hold both pain and peace,
Yet never shall his service cease.
Temples, churches, mosques alike,
He walks them all with equal strike.
No colour blinds, no rank divides,
The Gramin Dak Sewak(GDS) in silence strides.
For centuries he’s served this land,
With threadbare shoes and empty hand.
No pension earned, no status claimed,
Still burns in him the loyal flame.
The rulers changed, the flags have flown,
But he is still not truly known.
They changed his name, not his despair—
Still fighting for a rightful share.
Twelve hours he walks, through dusk and day,
Yet five alone they claim to pay.
Like bonded hands in freedom’s land,
He works with hope, not with command.
The Constitution's solemn creed
Is mocked by this unheeded need.
No “equal pay” for equal task—
How long shall truth behind masks bask?
With heart so wide and earnings small,
He still delivers to us all.
Rain or heat, he makes no plea,
Yet lives in silent agony.
He asks no alms, no favour grand,
Just equal rights, a helping hand.
For one who builds the postal frame,
Why should he live without a name?
The courts have ruled, the voices cried,
Yet every plea is cast aside.
The files pile high, the promises fade,
While years roll on in long parade.
Why no pension, why no grade,
For one whose service shall not fade?
A servant true, a life long spent,
Yet no civil acknowledgement.
The Government deaf, the system cold,
Yet he moves on, both young and old.
With rallies, letters, hunger fasts—
Still justice dodges, always lasts.
Every reform leaves them behind,
Data-driven, yet none seem to mind.
As agents once, they built the net,
Shadowed now, with rising debt.
Governments boast of digital speed,
Deserts of silence remain in need.
Satellites fly, apps rule the day,
Still GDSs serve with no fair pay.
But oh GDS, do not bend,
This is not where your path should end.
The stars will shift, the winds will turn,
And fires shall rise where passions burn.
So rise again, though hope is thin,
For justice waits where fights begin.
Let struggle be your battle song—
For right denied too long is wrong.
Stand tall with banner, voice and pen,
And march again, and yet again.
The post you bear, the love you sow—
Will one day make the nation know.
Your sweat, your steps, your silent vow—
Deserve their rightful place somehow.
History shall write in gold your name—
The one who bore the people's flame.
So hold each hand, let none stand lone,
For strength is born when hearts are one.
Though justice sleeps and hopes may sway,
Together we'll rise—our dawn will stay.

🔥 Rise Against Chains 🔥
🔥 Rise Against Chains 🔥
Built this nation from its sands,
With sweat and toil we earned each right,
Eight-hour days born out of fight.
But now, in Independent India’s name,
Democracy wears a corporate chain.
The rulers changed, the greed remained—
Our rights betrayed, our hopes disdained.
Out of forty-four hard-won laws,
Fifteen were axed without a cause.
The rest turned into four cruel codes,
To serve the rich on workers' roads.
They say it's reform, but we can see—
It’s theft wrapped up in policy.
No voice, no vote, no union shield,
Just longer hours in the open field.
Definitions twisted, redefined,
To suit the rich, the corporate mind.
Who is a worker? Who’s employed?
With pens they wipe our rights destroyed.
Wages stalled, rights erased,
With iron boots the laws replaced.
No place to bargain, no room to speak,
They silence strong, exploit the weak.
Trade unions throttled at their root,
Bargaining power turned to mute.
The rules now mock what once was just,
And bury decades of earned trust.
No safety net, no social shield,
No justice in the factory field.
The codes forget the unorganised,
Where millions toil, unrecognised.
With no gear to wear and no doctor near,
They stretch our hours year after year.
No pay that's fair, no rest, no aid—
In every court, our rights betrayed.
This is not freedom, this is fraud—
Where sweat is taxed but gold is God.
The rulers chant of growth and light,
While workers vanish out of sight.
But O my Comrades, shall we bend?
Shall silence mark our bitter end?
No! We are storm, we are the flame—
Without our work, there's none to name.
Let factories halt, let offices cease,
Till justice dawns and rights increase!
One nation, one voice, one fighting soul,
To make the broken system whole.
Let banners rise like morning sun,
Until this battle’s truly won!
From mines and mills to city street,
Let marching hearts in thunder beat!
Let strikes ignite from mine to port,
Let unity be our last resort!
No one gives what we don’t demand,
Let’s rise and march across the land.
Stand up today—unite, defy!
For rights don’t fall from sky to sky.
They bloom in struggle, grow in fight—
So rise, O workers! Claim your right!
A chain in gold is still a chain—
Break it, brothers! End this pain.
For in this land we built and serve,
We deserve the dignity we deserve.
So rise, O workers, don’t delay—
History calls, come join the fray!
March for justice, fight for right—
Only struggle can end this night.

No NPS, No UPS, only OPS
No NPS, No UPS, only OPS
A pension right, strong and pure.
Not a gift, nor mercy's favour,
But earned through years of loyal labour.
But then they came with cunning smile,
Snatched our peace with NPS guile.
No shelter left for our old age,
Just numbers trapped in policy cage.
They named a thing called "Unified",
But truth and justice — both denied.
UPS is not what they pretend,
It’s a payout scam, not pension’s end.
No NPS! No UPS! only OPS is the cry,
Till rightful pension rights apply.
We won’t be fooled, we won’t retreat,
Our battle echoes in every street.
Let every office, every gate,
Turn into flames of workers’ fate.
From Kashmir snow to Kanyakumari's breeze,
Let slogans rise with burning pleas.
Join the march, oh friend and peer,
Let silence fade, let truth be clear.
United hearts, unbroken voice,
It’s now or never — make the choice.
This fight is not for gold or greed,
But for justice — our truest need.
We want a future safe and sound,
With dignity where age is found.
Remember always, not one gain,
Has come without the struggle's pain.
So rise, awaken, don’t delay,
The Pension Path is ours to lay.
From files and fields, let all arise,
Till justice reigns beneath our skies.
With fists of hope and heads held high,
We fight, we win — or do not die.

No Fight, No Right
No Fight, No Right
Bruhaspati Samal
General Secretary
Confederation of Central Govt Employees and Workers
Odisha State CoC
They say, “Why bother? Just go with the tide,”
But justice and rights don’t come if we hide.
The clock keeps ticking, the burdens remain,
While silence accepts the loss and the pain.
No workplace was ever just, fair, or kind,
Until the workers stood firm, bold and aligned.
Not a pension was given, nor bonus nor rest,
Without struggles and voices put to the test.
From factories grim to the office hall,
The rights we have were once none at all.
Each holiday earned, each fair wage won,
Came from the heat of battles begun.
But today we retreat, too weary to fight,
Forgetting the past, and surrendering might.
Yet Gandhi once walked, with no sword or gun,
Proving the war of truth can still be won.
So rise, dear comrade, in unity stand,
Let courage and peace guide every demand.
No stone must we throw, no harm must we do,
With voices and will, we must push through.
The bosses may scoff, the powers may frown,
But strength of people can bring them down.
Let placards rise where silence lay,
And justice bloom where fear held sway.
The chains of ease are not freedom’s song,
The road of rights is steep and long.
But walk it we must, with head held high,
Till the day no worker needs to cry.
No fight, no right — the truth still stands,
Rights don’t arrive with folded hands.
Stand up, speak out, don’t fade from sight,
For silence gives up — but struggle gives right.

Heartbroken News : Ahmedabad Plane Crash
Dear Comrades,
Our hearts shatter as we mourn the loss of lives aboard Air India Flight AI 171, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner that crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025.
What began as a hopeful journey to London ended in unimaginable grief—for the 242 souls on board, the families waiting at home, and the innocent lives lost on the ground.
In this dark hour, we grieve together, stand with the survivors, and honour the courage of rescue teams working in the midst of devastation.
May the memories of those we lost be a blessing, and may hope guide the healing to come.
